Writers Prediction League - Spurs at Stoke City

The writers at Cartilage Free Captain predict the result for Tottenham Hotspur's match at Stoke City.

Julian Finney

Crunch time. The crunch is on For Spurs after a draw against Chelsea last week (and Chelsea's subsequent win yesterday). The race for fourth is now between Arsenal and Spurs, with Arsenal holding a one point lead (and a major advantage in goal differential). The formula is simple for Spurs--win the season's two remaining matches and hope Arsenal drops points at some time.

A trip to the Britannia stadium looms for Spurs penultimate match of the season. Stoke City sit eleventh on the table, now safe from relegation. It has been a typical Stoke season, as low scoring has been paired with stingy defense. The team's attack has been led by Jonathan Walters, as the Irishman has a team-leading eight goals. However, the team's real lead has come from centerback combo of Robert Huth and Ryan Shawcross and Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, have helped solidify Stoke as having one of the league's best defenses.

As for the Prediction League, Mechanick stays on top of the table with a perfect prediction of the Chelsea match. The rules remain the same in the Prediction League--one point for a correct prediction, a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here are the current standings:

Name Score
Mechanick 29
Petrilli 26
Ashlock 23
Ryan 21
Kevin 19
Uncle Menno 18
The Roosevelts 17
Ed 16

This week's predictions:

Kevin: Sigh. 0-0 Draw.

Mechanick: An ugly, ugly game, but Bale gets the decisive goal. 1-0 Spurs

Ryan: One time, she punched me in the face. It was awesome. 2-1 Spurs.

Ashlock: I have no explanation. 3-0 Spurs.

The Roosevelts: 1-0 Spurs, because I don't know anymore

Ed: 27-0 Spurs. You Only Predictionleague Once (and I'm already relegated anyway).

Petrilli: Gotta predict blind to what Brian is predicting. 2-1 Spurs.

Uncle Menno: The weather forecast for Stoke on Sunday calls for cloudy skies, high of 55º F/13º C. No rain. We got this. 1-0 Spurs.
