If you didn't see the news today, FC Barcelona announced that Tito Vilanova has resigned his post as manager due to health reasons. Vilanova missed time while he was being treated for cancer last season and found out during a medical screening earlier this week that he will not be able to continue as Barcelona manager. They'll be looking to appoint a new boss, and AS reports that Andre Villas-Boas is a candidate.
According to the paper, there is a clause in his contract especially pertaining to Barcelona.
Indeed, the Portuguese coach has a clause in his contract at White Hart Lane allowing him to leave if he receives an offer from Barcelona. This was his reason for turning down the advances of Paris Saint-Germain during the summer. This clause is worth around 14 million euros.
As they mentioned, Tottenham Hotspur rebuffed offers from Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the year. Whether or not this clause exists is yet to be confirmed by anyone else, though it wouldn't be terribly shocking.
It's early days and there are plenty of other candidates, but Barcelona is more likely to pry AVB away from Spurs than PSG were if they're genuinely interested. Now we wait.
