Mousa Dembele has minor ankle injury; Jan Vertonghen out for Belgium as well

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele is out for Belgium's mid-week friendly after he picked up a minor ankle injury over the weekend. Jan Vertonghen is also out for Belgium.

Like Gareth Bale, Mousa Dembele has a minor lower-body injury but is currently in his international squad. Also like Gareth Bale, Dembele will not be playing for his national team this Wednesday because of this injury. He's been ruled out for Belgium's game against France.

The Jan Vertonghen news is not really news. He's been out for a couple of weeks and was always iffy to start Tottenham Hotspur's season opener. We'll likely hear about Jan's progress from Andre Villas-Boas on Friday.

As for Dembele, I'm hoping that he has internationalfriendlyitis, not a real ankle injury that's going to cause him to miss time. Sandro is back in training, but it seems unlikely that he'll be fit to start against Palace. Etienne Capoue's transfer has also not been announced yet. At this rate, we might be seeing Tom Huddlestone or Sky Captain Scotty Parker this coming Sunday.
