The end to the Vlad Chiriches saga is finally here. After have a bid turned down by Steaua Bucharest's imprisoned president earlier this month, Tottenham Hotspur have finally completed the signing of Romanian defender Chiriches.

Tottenham needed reinforcements in defense following the sale of Steven Caulker to Cardiff. Spurs have now replaced Caulker with a classy ball-playing defender in the mold of Jan Vertonghen. Chiriches cost Spurs a rumored €9.5 million and will likely be fourth choice for Tottenham, though he will see plenty of playing time in the various cup competitions.

Tottenham now have a fully fleshed out central defense with four experienced and capable central defenders. They also have a youngster in Zeki Fryers who could fill in if needed and Etienne Capoue, who is not primarily a central defender, but can play if necessary. This squad is really starting to take shape.
