Erik Lamela completes transfer to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have landed their Gareth Bale replacement in AS Roma winger Erik Lamela, who is now Spurs' record signing.

Argentine wonderkid Erik Lamela is now a Tottenham Hotspur player. The right winger has been mooted as a Gareth Bale replacement and will likely have a lot of pressure heaped upon him in the coming months, but for now Spurs fans should rejoice because the club got the player they wanted.

The signing is believed to be for a fee of €30 million plus an additional €5 million in add-ons based on the player's and club's performance. This will eventually make Lamela Tottenham's record signing (the fee is the same as the one Spurs paid to Roberto Soldado, but the add-ons take it above that figure), making this the third time this summer Spurs have broken their record.

Lamela has been training with Roma this summer and has been called-up to the Argentina squad for their World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on September 10. It seems likely that Lamela will be fit enough to go into the squad as soon as he returns from the international break.
