Gareth Bale will not play against Espanyol

Whether it's because of an injury or transfer demands, Gareth Bale will not play in Tottenham Hotspur's final preseason friendly.

Gareth Bale will miss yet another preseason friendly for Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. He's already been declared out for the game according to The Guardian and is 'frustrated by club's refusal to sell him to Madrid'. Bale showed up to the club's training ground on Monday and Tuesday and has recently received treatment for a foot injury, according to the club.

In light of the news about Luis Suarez, this is obviously going to cause quite a bit of suspicion. Suarez was left out of Liverpool's team to face Valerenga in a friendly because of an injury, but came out and publicly declared his desire to leave Anfield just hours later. Andre Villas-Boas claimed that Bale was close to full fitness ahead of the friendly against Sunderland, but the Espanyol friendly will be the fifth in succession that Bale has missed.

Daniel Levy and Real Madrid representatives are reportedly scheduled for talks in the United States this week. Hopefully Bale agrees to play for Spurs in the event that nothing comes of them.
