Transfer deadline day 2013: Tottenham Hotspur potential arrivals, departures and pipe dreams

Daniel Levy has hired a director of football and gotten most of his work done early, but he's still Daniel Levy. And Andre Villas-Boas hasn't said that Tottenham Hotspur is done dealing.

You may remember that we did an early morning series called "Arrivals, departures and pipe dreams" on January 31, before things really started happening on transfer deadline day. We're going to do that again, and given the business we've already done, this will probably be more of a venture into fantasyland than past editions.

Seven players have come in, meaning Tottenham Hotspur have probably done most of their business. However, there are a couple of roster spots available, while Spurs' current net spend is about zero. Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Emmanuel Adebayor haven't been training with the team. Every mid table team in England needs a striker, wants Jermain Defoe and has more money than sense. Chelsea and Manchester United probably both need to ditch a forward. Real Madrid are in one-day firesale mode. Who knows what could happen?

Transfer deadline day is about speculation all day long, even after clubs make official announcements. We want to partake, and we want to do it responsibly. This StoryStream includes a collection of profiles on players who could exit the club today, players who could conceivably come in, and guys who will only come to Tottenham today in our wildest dreams. Each will be clearly labeled as such.

We're kicking things off with Benny, who we all love. Enjoy the madness as we profile a bunch of players.
