Possible Tottenham Hotspur arrivals: Tom Ince

Yeah, we're seriously doing this again.

Ross Kinnaird

This post is part of a deadline morning series on potential Tottenham transfers. You can find all of the posts in the series right here, as well as the initial post explaining this series right here.

Tottenham Hotspur are apparently linked with Tom Ince. No one really knows why. He was liked to Spurs earlier in the window when they didn't have Nacer Chadli, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen. Then a fresh link popped up on deadline day. Go explain that one.

The only reasonable explanation for this that I can think of is that someone's about to bid a really dumb amount of money for Aaron Lennon. Or Franco Baldini is drunk. Not that I'm slagging off Tom Ince, he's a very good player and he'll have a successful Premier League career. I just don't know what a team with our wingers and attacking midfielders wants with him.

If we sign him ... well, good luck beating out Chadli for a first team place, I guess.

Quick bio: Tom Ince is an attacking winger who can play on either side of the pitch. He couldn't quite cut it at Liverpool, so they let him go to Blackpool for virtually nothing. That was dumb. He's been sensational for Blackpool.

Age: 21

Likelihood he's transfered today: Moderate. He's said that he doesn't really want to leave his family, but he can go up to Blackpool from London and see them all the time. Also, he plays for a Championship team that doesn't have a ton of money.

Potential suitors: Tottenham Hotspur and literally every other team in the Premier League outside of the Sky Six.

Price if he's sold: Blackpool have previously accepted bids of £8m for him.

Are Spurs the front-runners?: Yep, by far the best club that would be in for him. Though, if Everton made a move, he'd be able to see his family more often and that would probably sway his decision a bit.

The verdict - Could he be a Spurs player on September 3?: Yep. If Spurs are actually interested and he's not making a stink about wanting to stay close to his family, absolutely. Though I'm not really sure why we still want him.
