Thought we were done with Gianluca Di Marzio? You thought wrong. Everyone's favorite Sky Italy journalist is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur have loaned Tom Carroll and Benoit Assou-Ekotto to Queens Park Rangers. I'm sure that Harry Redknapp is thrilled, if this report is indeed accurate.
Double capture incoming for Queen Park Rangers. The British club has reached an agreement with Tottenham for the double loan of Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Tom Carroll.
Assou-Ekotto has just one year left on his contract, so I'm wondering if we've signed him to a one-year contract extension, if this move is in fact legitimate. If we haven't signed him to an extension, I'm not exactly sure why we'd loan him out.
As for Carroll, I don't love that he's going to the Championship, but it could be worse. He'll be in a good team that is fighting for promotion. Harry's teams play decent football. He'll get chances to play, since QPR's midfield, while solid for the division, is not deep. Also, Harry played him in Europa League when he was extremely green, so he obviously rates Carroll.
This could be a lot worse, but I'm not thrilled.
Update: Chris Lepkowski of the Birmingham Mail is getting similar info on Benny.
QPR closing in on Assou Ekotto. Good player - surprised a few PL clubs aren't looking at him
