Both reunite with Harry Redknapp, who they played with when he was Tottenham Hotspur boss previously. Assou-Ekotto currently has just one year left on his contract, so we might have seen the last of him in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt.
Redknapp has been trying to get Niko Kranjcar as well, but that hasn't gone through as far as we know. That might mean that Carroll gets an opportunity to play higher up the pitch for QPR, If he plays in the center of midfield, he'll be competing for a place with his former teammate Jermaine Jenas, as well as Joey Barton.
We can only hope that Carroll nails down a place in a team that plays good football and does well in the Championship. It's not an ideal loan, but it'll do.
