Younes Kaboul and Jan Vertonghen return to training

New, comments

Tottenham Hotspur's defense has been handed a boost with the return to training of centerbacks Younes Kaboul and Jan Vertonghen.

Tottenham Hotspur's defense has been a bit shaky since their stellar early season performances. A lot of the instability is probably down to injuries, but now the backline is finally getting healthy. Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul, probably the team's two best defenders, have finally returned from injury layoffs and have resumed training. Unfortunately neither will be available for this weekend's match against Swansea.

In addition to the return of the two defenders, midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson should be available for selection this weekend against. The only long-term injury that Spurs now have is midfielder Paulinho, who is still suffering the after-effects of a poor Charlie Adam tackle.

Tottenham are getting healthy at just the right time. Having Vertonghen and Kaboul back for fixtures against Manchester City, Everton, and Newcastle, will certainly be a big boost for the team. Having more than two central defenders fit will be a odd thing for Spurs manager Tim Sherwood, but with a lot of games coming up in the next few months, especially once the Europa League resumes, he'll need all the bodies he can get.
