Writers Prediction League: Tottenham at Swansea City

The writers at Cartilage Free Captain predict the result for Tottenham Hotspur's match at Swansea City.

Michael Steele

In the thick. Tottenham Hotspur kept pace with the top of the table last weekend with a key 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. Tottenham could potentially fall even on points for fourth place with a win this weekend. Spurs have relied on greener players, with newcomer Nabil Bentaleb and the deputizing Kyle Naughton likely to feature heavily. Can they help continue Tottenham's rich run of league form?

The challenge will come in today's trip to Wales to face Swansea City. The Swans sit 14th in the table, in the thick of the tough relegation race that has engulfed the entire bottom half of the table. The team has been led by newcomer Wilfried Bony, as the Ivorian striker has tallied six league goals already. The attack is clearly Swansea's strength, as the likes of Nathan Dyer and Jonjo Shelvy all present goal-scoring threats. The defense has been the weakness though, as the pressure will be on their corps to battle Spurs' improved attack force.

As for the Prediction League, Sleep closed the gap for the lead with a perfect prediction last week. The rules remain the same in the Prediction League--one point for a correct prediction and a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here are the current standings:

Name Score
Mechanick 17
The Sleeper's Sleep 16
Ed 15
Petrilli 15
MCofA 14
Uncle Menno 14
Lennon's Eyebrow 14

The Roosevelts

This week's predictions:

Ed: 3-0 Spurs. Bentaleb makes the idiots already questioning his potential on Twitter eat humble tart tatine with a hat-trick.

Kevin: 2-0 Spurs because I don't know reasons.

Mechanick: Bentaleb finally gets his, and it proves the winning margin. 1-0 Spurs

Ryan: Did you see nipple? It only counts if you saw a nipple. 2-1 Spurs.

Ashlock: I have no idea. I suck at this game. 2-1 Spurs.

The Roosevelts: I predict Spurs score 3 goals, one for soon to depart Sandro, one for the worthless but enjoyable Tom Carroll, and one for Cartilage free baby. I predict Swansea to score 4 in response. A trolly troll troll a trolly troll troll. 4-3 Swansea

Lennon's Eyebrow: Spurs will score two goals and Swansea will score one goal. 2-1 Spurs.

Petrilli: 2-1 Spurs. I have nothing witty to add, so remember to spay and neuter your pets.

Uncle Menno: Swansea scares me at the Liberty and we're overdue for a derp. 1-1 Draw.

MCofA: This will be my first Spurs game home with the new baby. 4-0 Spurs. 31% chance of winning away to Swansea can eat it.

The Sleeper's Sleep: Well, so, um, soccer. It will be played, probably. 2-1 Spurs.

Skipjack: Yiddo yiddo yiddo

New babies mean we are statistically more likely to create shots on goal. 5-0 Spurs
