UPDATE: Holtby deal reportedly off
Lewis Holtby's rumored move to Schalke might not happen, but if Bild are to be believed, their rivals, Borussia Dortmund, are interested in obtaining his services. According to the German outlet, Dortmund want to buy him this window, and they don't think Tottenham would ask that much.
Tottenham will Holtby wohl lieber für rund 6 Mio Euro verkaufen als ihn zu verleihen. Die Ablöse wäre für den BVB kein Problem - für Schalke schon.
That says Tottenham would sell Holtby for €6m, a fee that would be no problem for Dortmund.
It's worth noting that Holtby is not a local Schalke product. He was a youth player at Borussia Mönchengladbach and played professional games at Alemania Aachen before moving to Schalke, so he probably wouldn't have the same hang-ups about playing for Dortmund that a local lad would.
Dortmund recently learned that winger Jakub Blaszczykowski will miss the rest of the season, while playmaking central midfielder Ilkay Gündogan has been out for a while. However, Gündogan is expected to return shortly.
I'm not sure whether or not this makes sense for Dortmund or if Spurs really would accept a fee that low. I'm surprised by this rumor and, for once, I'm at a loss to explain how plausible this is.
