Will Inter's pursuit of Hernanes help Spurs reinforce?

If Inter are going to sell Fredy Guarin, they'll probably want a replacement lined up first. They might have found that replacement.

Franco Baldini's trip to Italy hasn't culminated in him capturing long-time club target Fredy Guarin quite yet, but that might be because Inter Milan have to secure his replacement before pulling the trigger. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, they'll be negotiating with a potential replacement, Hernanes of Lazio, on Wednesday. This translation comes from SB Nation's Jack Sargeant.

"Hernanes is close to a move to Inter, now there is optimism. The nerazzurri are pushing for their objective, Lazio's Brazilian ... Tomorrow will be an important day, because Hernanes' agent, Lee, will arrive in Italy."

If you're wondering why Hernanes' agent isn't already in Italy, it's because he's Chinese. Hernanes' contract is up in 18 months, so Lazio could possibly willing to sell at a very reasonable price. Even if Guarin is only sold for a fee in the range of €10m, Inter might come away with a profit after shipping him off and buying Hernanes.

Tim Sherwood continues to insist that Spurs aren't looking at reinforcements this week. Do you believe him, or is it classic Spurs misdirection ahead of an active deadline day?
