If Ukrainian outlet Tribuna is to be believed, Tottenham Hotspur have entered the bidding for Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka. Try saying that name five times fast. They claim that Spurs are willing to pay £15 million to secure the Ukranian international this transfer window.
In the event this report is correct, Liverpool fans are going to be very unhappy. They've already had Mohamed Salah snatched away from them by Chelsea when he appeared to be close to signing, and they've looked close to signing Konoplyanka as well.
For those who haven't seen Konoplyanka play, he's a pretty well-built winger with very good technique who scores a decent number of goals from wide positions. His best position is as a left winger, but he's played as a right winger and a second striker as well.
This is the first I've heard of any Spurs interest in Konoplyanka and it's interesting that it hasn't come from an English outlet. Like the Chicharito story from yesterday, my guess is that his agent is throwing out our name to drum up some interest. We'll see if anything comes out of this story or it dies a quick death. I can't imagine we spend £15m on any winger this week.
