When Queens Park Rangers revealed that Tom Carroll had not been given permission by Tottenham Hotspur to play in the FA Cup this weekend, most assumed that a recall from his loan was imminent. After all, why hold him out if you don't intend to play him in the FA Cup yourself? Harry Redknapp has spoken up on this, and it's good news for those of you who think Carroll has a place in Spurs' first team.
"I would think Tim would let Benni stay with is. At the moment he's not in his plans. But Tom could be going back soon. I should hear something in the next week or so."
That's about as clear-cut as it gets. Spurs haven't recalled Carroll yet, but Harry probably wouldn't say something like this unless it was a near-certainty. Even though he has a big mouth, Harry isn't one to BS around.
I'm a huge fan of Carroll and think he should have been thrown into the fire a long time ago, so if he's coming back to start for Spurs, excellent. However, I'm certainly concerned about him getting lost in the shuffle again and don't really want to see him recalled if he's going to ride the pine.
