Etienne Capoue doesn't want to be at Tottenham Hotspur and I don't blame him, but while Napoli want him, but they aren't willing to pay what Spurs want. So where is Capoue to go?
Atletico Madrid may swoop in to snatch Capoue.
Football Espana are reporting that Atletico are interested in Capoue, which would make some sense. Atletco are joint top of La Liga and are in need a defensive midfielder. They have been linked to Ever Banega all month, but that doesn't appear close and they were linked to Capoue in the summer before Spurs out-bid them. They clearly rate the player and have a need, making the logic on this one check out.
For Capoue, it might be the perfect move. He would move to a club competing for the league title where defensive midfielders are valued and he can play for a brilliant manager in Diego Simeone.
As for Spurs, well, the Capoue ship seems to have sailed a while ago so if Atleti are willing to pay up then there's nothing left to do but wish the Frenchman well and be happy that if he makes Tottenham look silly, he will be doing so in another league.
