Hey, remember that exciting young American right back we signed this summer? It seems that DeAndre Yedlin might be coming to north London sooner than expected. Mauricio Pochettino was asked about Yedlin in the context of the dire (Dier? lol pun) right back situation at Spurs right now.
We need to know how Walker is recovering to decide (on Yedlin)... One option is maybe in January (to) bring him here.
t's not a secret that Spurs are hurting at the right back area. Kyle Walker (a.k.a. "Kyle1") is only now starting to come back from abdominal surgery, and his backup, Kyle Naughton (a.k.a. "Kyle2") went out with an ankle injury in the Southampton match and looks to be out for a while. For now Spurs are limping along with Eric Dier at right back, but although Dier has looked decent enough in stretches, he's a converted center-half and isn't someone we want to rely on at the position long term.
The 21-year old Yedlin may not be ready to be a regular starter and is pretty raw defensively, but he's a speed demon and had a good showing at the World Cup this summer in limited action. He's the kind of player whom, in the absence of someone more suitable and healthy, could step in and be a natural replacement.
Pochettino's quotes aren't very much to go on, but if it turns out that Kyle Walker has a setback or that his recovery is stalled from the previous optimistic reports, then we just might see TottenhAmerica sooner than we all thought. Related: squeeeeeeeeeeee!
