Tottenham Hotspur team news: Kyle Naughton out against Swansea

That pesky right back position is a problem once again.

The right back woes continue for Spurs. Tottenham Hotspur released team news ahead of Sunday's match against Swansea. Kyle Naughton will not make the trip to Wales this weekend because he is recovering from a heel injury.

And we all thought that Mauricio Pochettino was merely resting Naughton in the Besiktas match to keep him fresh for the Swans! The right back position continues to be a problem for Tottenham; Kyle Walker started and played an impressive 75 minutes for Spurs in their match against Turkey, but it seems questionable whether he or Vlad Chiriches, who played 90 minutes in Istanbul, will be ready to start in Naughton's absence. If neither are ready to go after a short turn-around, it may leave, once again, Eric Dier to deputize.

Speaking of Dier, he didn't play against Besiktas because he's also rehabbing from a toe injury, but the team reports that he trained on Friday. The other five rested players – Jan Vertonghen, Harry Kane, Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb, and Christian Eriksen – are all healthy and will presumably start. Emmanuel Adebayor is still in Togo on his personal leave.

As for Swansea, starting keeper Lukasz Fabianski was sent off last week and so will not play against Spurs, which is good since he's been in pretty good form this season. Gerhard Tremmel will likely step in for the Swans. Spurs loanee Tom Carroll cannot play against Tottenham as a condition of his loan, but expect Gylfi Sigurdsson to start against his old club.
