We've lacked updates on the condition of Sandro for a few weeks, but it appears that he's inching closer to a return to the first team squad. Tottenham Hotspur have announced via a post on their website that Sandro will play in Monday's Under-21 Premier League fixture against Bolton Wanderers.
Sandro hasn't played for Spurs since December 15, when he picked up an injury against Liverpool. He's dealt with hamstring and calf injuries since, but is finally fit enough to make a rehab start in a competitive environment.
Without Sandro available to him, Tim Sherwood has experimented with his midfield. Etienne Capoue was purchased as a natural backup to the Brazilian, but he fell out of favor with Sherwood early and was nearly sold to Napoli. Though Capoue appears to have worked his way back into the side, he hasn't been as good in recent performances as he was at the start of the season, and Sandro's return will be very welcome.
Spurs also note that Danny Rose will play in the game after sitting out the win over Newcastle. Rose had a minor unspecified injury and looks to be in line for a return to the starting XI imminently, provided he doesn't suffer a setback on Monday.
Zeki Fryers and Harry Kane, semi-regulars for the Under-21 team, will also be in the squad for the game. It's nice to see Spurs getting healthy during the home stretch, especially if Sherwood has any aspirations to win the Europa League while pushing for fourth place.
