Scratch off one managerial candidate for Spurs

Cesare Prandelli isn't going to be Tottenham Hotspur's next manager.

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have mostly been stuck on the possibility of Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal or Ajax manager Frank de Boer taking over the managerial post at White Hart Lane for next season, but Cesare Prandelli's name has also been floating around as a possibility.

His contract with Italy is up after the World Cup, but the Azzurri apparently aren't waiting to see how the team performs in Brazil to extend him. According to various reports, Prandelli has agreed to a two-year extension that will see him remain Italy boss through Euro 2016.

The main appeal of Prandelli has been his ability to set up his team in a variety of styles and formations. They can play with a back three or back four, narrow or wide, keeping the ball or defending deep and countering. It's something that's been missing at Tottenham Hotspur in the opinion of many, but it doesn't appear that he's going to be available.

Let's hope that LVG or FDB wants the job. Or that Tim Sherwood turns into Alex Ferguson.
