Heurelho Gomes signs with Watford

Our former flappy-handed keeper may have whiffed on the cross, but landed on his feet near London.

Well, that didn't take long. A week after (finally) being cut from Tottenham Hotspur, former Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has landed on his feet with Championship side Watford. The deal is apparently for one year with an extension option for another year, should the club decide to do so.

Gomes certainly ended up being a bit of a laughing stock around here, but let's never forget that he had a lot of promise for Spurs when we signed him in 2008. At his best, he was a spectacular shot stopper:

At at worst, he was comedy gold, Jerry, GOLD!

Regardless of how you feel about Gomes, I wish him well. Vaya con Dios, Heurelho. I hope you have a long career with the Hornet-Mooses and I hope to see you in the Premier League again someday soon.
