Michael Dawson all but out the door

Say goodbye to England's Brave Michael Dawson, who's probably a year too long in the tooth for Spurs.

Mike Hewitt

Michael Dawson has been linked to the exit for quite some time, and it looks like that's finally about to come to fruition. Tottenham Hotspur fans, get ready to say goodbye to a pretty great dude.

The Sun are both The Sun and behind a paywall, but they've got the story first, so here you go. Here's the little snippet they give you before they ask for money.

Michael Dawson will become Hull's third summer signing in the next 48 hours. The Spurs centre-back, 30, held talks this weekend. Now the Tigers are set to beat West Ham, QPR and Crystal Palace in a £4million race for his signature.

It's a bit disappointing that £4m is the best we can do for someone being chased by four teams, but he's 30 and didn't have the greatest season last year, plus he'll be on pretty high wages for any of those teams. Spurs are probably just happy to get a real fee at this point.

Dawson's been a great player for the club and a source of constant positivity through managerial changes, player sales and bad runs of form. Every team needs a player or six with Dawson's personality, so it'll be sad to see him go. It's clear he's no longer good enough to start for a team with Champions League ambitions and I was critical of him last season, but I wish him nothing but the best at Hull.
