Liverpool haven't signed Divock Origi yet

No one expects Tottenham Hotspur to sign the Lille starlet, but he wasn't getting a medical at Melwood today.

You've probably heard that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Divock Origi, but that Liverpool are the favorites and expected to sign him. You might have also seen this photo floating around the internet, which is allegedly Origi at Melwood for a medical.

As it turns out, Origi was at Melwood today, but this isn't a done deal yet. Here's James Pearce from the Echo.

Supposedly, Tottenham have matched Liverpool's bid for Origi, and they're probably hoping that they can convince him to make a trip to North London and at least have a chat with Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino.

The player himself seems pretty committal about any potential destination. "It is true that there are offers from all over Europe," said Origi. "Now I have to look carefully where I will grow as a player and as a person. I think there will be clearer. Within two weeks of the most."

I'm not anticipating Spurs making this a real race at all. But if Brendan Rodgers wasn't willing to commit to letting him fight for a first team place this season, or the Reds made him a bit of a lowball offer salary-wise? Well, he might think twice about signing on with Liverpool. I don't think they're dumb enough to do that, but it is a bit strange that they had so much back-and-forth during the Adam Lallana saga, that they're still haggling over Dejan Lovren and that they're conceding defeat to Arsenal in the race to get Alexis Sanchez. Perhaps they don't have their ducks in a row.

We can hope, can't we?
