Spurs drawn in Europa League Group C with Beşiktaş

Tottenham was drawn into a Europa League group with teams from Turkey, Serbia, and Greece.

Harold Cunningham

After dismantling AEL Limassol at White Hart Lane yesterday, Tottenham Hotspur were confirmed as participants in the Europa League group stage. Today, those teams were drawn into groups.  Tottenham was drawn into Group C in Europa League qualification along with Beşiktaş, FK Partizan, and Asteras Tripolis.

This isn't a horrible draw for Spurs, but it features one fairly tricky opponent in Beşiktaş, who finished third in the Süper Lig and are ranked 66th by Euro Club Index. Beşiktaş also has striker Demba Ba who we have been linked to on and off over the years, and they will be no pushovers. The draw also includes away trips to Serbia (Paritzan) and Greece (Asteras), which will be fun, but at least it isn't Ukraine.

Spurs should be favored against Partizan and Asteras, but we all remember the debacle of the shirtless Greeks at PAOK a couple of years ago, so don't expect Tottenham to take them lightly. These two teams appear to be Limassol-esque, which means difficult away trips. But, we avoided such teams as Borussia Mönchengladbach, Panathinaikos, and Wolfsburg in our group.  All in all, not too bad of a draw.
