Shaquile Coulthirst set for loan to Southend United

Shaq is back... on loan to League 2.

Tony Marshall

News from the youth ranks today as League 2 club Southend United announced the signing of young Tottenham Hotspur striker Shaquile Coulthirst on a season-long loan.

Southend are currently one of the bigger teams in League 2, having finished last season in fifth place, losing to Burton Albion in the playoffs. Coulthirst is no stranger to League 2, having spent the end of last season on loan at Torquay United in an unsuccessful attempt for them to try and avoid relegation to the Skrill Conference.

The 19 year old Coulthirst is obviously not in Spurs plans this season and is well down the depth chart at striker. A loan makes sense, and League 2 appears to be about at his level.

I don't know much about Southend United apart from that they're nicknamed "The Shrimpers" and have cool looking jerseys – better than ours, at least.  Let's hope it's a productive season on loan for Shaq and he can use the experience to kick on and improve his standing at Spurs in the future.
