Napoli pull out of chase for Tottenham star

Napoli manager Rafa Benitez has said that there will be no signings by the Italian club today.

Various outlets are reporting that Napoli have dropped out of the chase for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro, after their manager Rafa Benitez said that there will be no more new signings. The former Liverpool boss seems to believe that his team are done until the January window.

"I think the market is closed. At least for incoming players, though some could still leave if everyone reaches an agreement with the right terms."

So Napoli could make some sales, but no acquisitions. Sandro has long been linked with a move to Italy, and Napoli have been the club most frequently rumored to be interested in the midfield destroyer. With Napoli now out of the running, Queens Park Rangers seem to be in pole position to sign Sandro. Barring any other interest from Italy, it looks as though Sandro could rejoin Harry Redknapp in West London.

Napoli dropping out is bad for a couple of reasons. First, we might have to play against Sandro at some point, and second it almost certainly lowers the selling price we could have gotten if QPR and Napoli had gotten into a bidding war over the Brazilian. Regardless, Sandro looks to be on the way out. Brace yourselves Spurs fans. The Beast is leaving.
