Writers Prediction League: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Sunderland

The writers at Cartilage Free Captain predict the result for Tottenham Hotspur's match vs. Sunderland.

Regression. Spurs lost a crucial match last weekend to Crystal Palace, as their 2-1 defeat dropped them to 6th in the table and three points out of Champions League places. Spurs were lifted again by a Harry Kane goal, but they were let by down their defense, which let Palace overrun them in the second half. Spurs rebounded in the midweek though, beating Burnley 4-2 with a half-strength squad. Can Spurs rebound in the league at home today against a Sunderland side which is only one point out of the relegation places?

As for the Prediction League, nobody foresaw Spurs losing to Palace. The rules remain the same in the Prediction League -- one point for a correct prediction and a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here are the current standings:

Ben Daniels 16
Michael Caley 15
Ryan 13
Brett Rainbow 12
Dominic Wood 11
Salmon Chase 10
Kevin 10
Mechanick 9
Bryan A. 9
Dustin Gerber Martin 8
Skipjack 7

This week's predictions:

Dustin Gerber Martin: 2-2 Draw. Defoe is going to score a brace on us because of course he is.

Kevin: Sunderland sucks, 3-0 Spurs

Mechanick: Spurs make it hard on themselves for no good reason, but Kane proves the difference. 1-0 Spurs

Ryan: I'm just gonna pump and dump. 2-1 Spurs.

Bryan A.: 3-1 Spurs. Still no clean sheets.

Salmon Chase: [Redacted] 3-1 Spurs.

Ben Daniels: Pardew is gonna get this team relegated, but we still can't keep a cleansheet. 2-1 Spurs.

Dominic Wood: 2-1 Spurs. The ghost of Jozy Altidore with a goal in the 83rd.

Michael Caley: You're all sad people. 3-0 Spurs. We whupped Sunderland away and got crazy unlucky. This time is going to be better.

Skipjack: 3-3 Draw, cause lol nothing matters

Brett Rainbow: We've actually matched up pretty well against narrative this year and I expect that to continue for JD Trouble's return to the Lane. 2-0 Spurs.
