According to Pete O'Rourke Tottenham Hotspur fullback Kyle Naughton is set to undergo a medical today before completing his £5 million move to Swansea City. The former Sheffield United player has fallen down the pecking order at right back this season under new manager Mauricio Pochettino and a change of scenery may due the player some good.
Naughton joined Tottenham Hotspur from Sheffield United, as part of the deal that also saw Kyle Walker come to White Hart Lane. At the time, Naughton was coming off a stellar season and some believed he might be the better player of the two. Unfortunately, injuries and poor performances hampered Naughton's Spurs career. He also wasn't helped by being forced to play left back on a number of occasions.
Selling Kyle #2 now might be ill-advised. DeAndre Yedlin has only recently joined and, even with Kyle Walker looking almost 100% fit, losing a versatile fullback who is, at the very least , competent at both fullback positions may hurt Spurs during this exhausting run of fixtures. That said, five million for Naughton is a pretty good piece of business, and selling him to a club like Swansea is going to be good for both the player and the club.
