With five central defenders competing for time in the first team, Tottenham Hotspur have been rumored to be moving out some of their deadwood. One of the players consistently being linked with a move away from White Hart Lane is Vlad Chiriches. The Romanian defender has long been rumored to be a target of AS Roma and now, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the club has met with Vlad's agent and may be only days away from securing his signing.
Di Marzio is usually pretty reliable on Serie A stuff, so I am inclined to believe that there is some truth to the Vlad to Roma rumors. However, Tutto Mercato Web (who I am much less inclined to believe) are claiming that Chiriches is merely part of a proposed deal that would see Roma striker Mattia Destro move to London. Destro seems to be out of favor at Roma and just a few weeks ago, rumors were that he had secured a move to Milan. Tutto Mercato claims the deal for Destro could be completed even without Chiriches moving the other way.
If I were a betting man, I'd say that Vlad to Roma is going to happen. Destro to Spurs seems more #batcountry to me, especially since most news reports have been strongly linking him with a move to Arsenal. Then again, the way this window is going for Tottenham, who knows what's going to happen in the next week.
