Happy hump day, Spurs fans. Today is the first day of the rest of your week! Who's ready for The Short Fuse takeover tomorrow? We've started uploading articles to the site and I'm looking forward to a pretty fun day.
Holy God am I tired. I put in a 15 hour day yesterday, but it was highlighted by a concert by Rhiannon Giddens, late of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. I'm an unabashed folkie when it comes to music choices, so this was pretty much right up my alley to begin with, but it was almost certainly one of my favorite concerts I've seen in the past five years. Giddens performed a breathtaking 90 minute set of everything from old-timey minstrel music to Dolly Parton to original tunes. Giddens has a spectacular voice – she was trained in opera before making the switch to roots music, and she surrounded herself with an expanded version of the Chocolate Drops that included some fantastic musicians in their own right.
Here's a video of "Shake Sugaree" from Giddens' debut solo album. Check her out if you get a chance. Oh, and feel free to talk about Spurs stuff in the comments. As you do.
