Happy Friday, Spursland! Welcome to the post-takeover hangover. Seriously though, the creative labor that went into planning that shebang was impressive. Big shout to the boys; and I'd also like to take this time to welcome new writer Ben Daniels to the crew. Based on the multiple articles he wrote or acted as contributor on for the takeover, he has a bright future here at Carty Free, and I look forward to reading his work on our site!
Now for the "news":
Mauricio Pochettino believes Dele Alli can be in England's Euro 2016 squad | Daily Mail
Of course Dele Alli will be in that squad. Dele Alli could nutmeg a convent full of nuns on the day they take their vows.
Son will be sidelined for "several" weeks more | FIFA.com
If there is one thing that Spurs supporters have learned to embrace, it is the fatalism that are club football injury reports. And by "learned to embrace", I mean the exact opposite. Cue the "he's 90% fit" and "Sonny's missing" jokes in 3...2...1. In all seriousness, if I can ever figure out a way to monetize our fan base's collective misery, I'll be a rich man. We are an angsty bunch.
Chelsea willing to pay more to keep Tottenham out of Wembley | We Ain't Got No History
Years ago on a casino floor in Vegas I made eye contact with an attractive young woman. We held the gaze for a second and then she dropped her head seemingly in shame. My first visit, I couldn't figure out why. Then it hit me, that old guy she was with was not her dad. I instantly felt bad for her. You see, I don't believe in s*** or w***** shaming. And you all know why? Because if the FA allows Chelsea to buy them off, they are three times worse because they aren't honest about who they are, and actually try to present themselves as the ethical barometer of the game. This type of stuff happens all the time in various lines of work and people chalk it up to the price of doing business, but it's garbage.
We'll see, but my jimmies are ready to be rustled.
Moral of the story: don't be a s*** shamer or a Chelsea supporter.
The Spurs youngsters beat Norwich City | Eastern Daily Press
Ok, Milos is reported as the captain of the U21s here. I keep actively repressing his existence because every time I remember he is around I think of all the "another [insert noun here] for Milos" jokes we are being denied because Poche hates him.
Born that way: Longform | SB Nation
I haven't read this, but stand by the decision to link the usually excellent longform from the mothership.
