Grinding it out.

Happy Wednesday, Spursland!

The holiday period is upon us and that means sometimes it's important to simply grind out results. We learned that a couple weeks ago when we failed to do so and Newcastle slapped us upside the head. Conversely, we learned that we can overcome 40 minutes of average play and capitalize this past weekend. Both valuable lessons, as this is no time for let downs.

Remember: it's all about the grind.

Take me for example. I'm roughing it at my mother's house, home for the holidays. Left with only five varieties of chips, three types of cured meat, and ten tea flavors at my disposal, I'm barely making it.

Yet, against all odds, I soldier on. I know what you're thinking: "Get out of there, Vin! Get back to the safety of your apartment", but what kind of man would I be if I couldn't practice what I preach? A pampered one, that's what.

So I'll eat my breakfast of peppers and eggs on Italian bread tomorrow, and wash it down freshly ground, artisanal coffee knowing better days are ahead if I just keep plugging.

Here's hoping the boys can match my mental toughness for this next week.

And now for the "news":

"Thauvin has been fine" says Steve McLaren while making googly eyes at a pic of Andros| Daily Mail

Andros makes that team better, especially if they decide to play on the counter like they did against us. His pace, power, and quick decision making...oh wait.

Tottenham target Ayoze insists his place is at Newcastle| Daily Mail

Well, he did say that weeks ago. It's true if a bit disingenuous. Just seeing if you all are paying attention.

Kyle Walker insists the back line is the key to a top finish| Mirror

Welcome to the world where Kyle is really good again. Seriously, what player has been through as many ups and downs as this guy? Glad he is back on form.

Boxing day and the holiday period are like Americans and fireworks. We all know better, but dammit, we can't help ourselves.
