Two American Tottenham Hotspur players were called up to represent the United States in upcoming friendlies and camps today by the United States Soccer Federation.
DeAndre Yedlin was named to the US Men's National Team at the senior level. He was one of 23 players named by manager Jurgen Klinsmann to prepare for two upcoming friendlies in Europe. The USMNT will take on Denmark in Aarhus on March 25 in a match televised on ESPN2 in the USA. On March 31, USA travels to Zurich to play fellow 2014 World Cup finalists Switzerland. The Swiss are currently rated #12 in FIFA's world rankings.
Both of these matches are described by Jurgen Klinsmann as "important" as they will be used to evaluate players ahead of this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup. Yedlin has not yet featured for Tottenham's senior team since joining the squad in January, but comments from manager Mauricio Pochettino have indicated that Spurs are slowly bringing him along with an eye to getting him acclimated to life in England.
