Aaron Lennon is no longer part of Tottenham Hotspur's plans and is now on loan at Everton until the end of the season, but the 27-year old winger has already impressed his new boss. Roberto Martinez was effusive with praise after Lennon scored his second goal in three games in Everton's 1-1 draw against Swansea:
"The work-rate Aaron Lennon has has been a massive influence, along with the pace that helps him get into certain positions. That has been infectious and is really helping the team. You seem him going into goalscoring positions and using his talent and creativity in the final third.
[Lennon] is clearly a massive part of the reason we have performed so well in the last four games and got those results. But every player has reacted in the same manner, the commitment of the whole team and the way we have been working on and off the ball shows a real team ethic. That has been a real positive and probably the key to our performances."
Lennon has been a long-time presence at Tottenham, but he's been drifting out of the first team the past two years. It's clear that Pochettino does not favor him and it would not surprise me at all to see him depart Spurs this summer. These glowing comments from Martinez hint that Lennon's new permanent home may just be the Toffees, though nothing will be decided until the transfer window opens up.
