Ben Davies to miss remainder of Tottenham season with shoulder injury

You're up, Jan Vertonghen.

Bad news if you like left backs that are actually left backs. Tottenham Hotspur confirmed today via Twitter that Ben Davies has undergone surgery on his shoulder and will miss the remainder of Spurs' season. Davies was stretchered off in the second half of last weekend's match at Southampton.

Obviously, this is terrible news if you're a Ben Davies fan, and even if you're not, Danny Rose is still nursing a foot injury and also probably isn't available for selection against Manchester City this weekend. While Spurs do have a youth player who can play left back (Connor Ogilvie), it's unlikely that Poche will dig THAT deep into the youth barrel against City. So it's almost a certainty that we'll see Jan Vertonghen deputize for the foreseeable future on the left side of defense. Connect the dots and that means some combination of Federico Fazio and either Eric Dier or Vlad Chiriches at CB, and whoever isn't playing in the middle starts wide right.

Unless Yedlin. There's always the chance of DeAndre Ye... oh, who am I kidding?

Heal up quick, Danny, your team needs you. Oh Danny Rose... the pipes, the pipes are calling...
