Juventus weigh up £25 million bid for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder

Erik Lamela could be on his way back to Italy if Juventus and £25 million have anything to say about it.

Tottenham Hotspur seem to have players consistently linked with moves to Italy. For the longest time, the big taget for Serie A clubs was Sandro, then it was Paulinho, now it appears that Italian giants Juventus are considering a bid for Erik Lamela that may be in the neighborhood of £25 million. Lamela, of course, had great success at Roma in a previous stint in Italy. His body of work in Serie A secured his club a £30 million transfer fee. If Spurs could recoup a large portion of that fee, might the Argentine be off to Turin?

The Daily Mail suggests that Juve want Lamela to play behind the striker for them. A role that would suit Lamela quite well, despite his success at Roma having come out wide. Lamela has struggled at times for Tottenham Hotspur, but has been really coming on in these last couple months. Some Tottenham fans are hopeful of what the player could do next season and manager Mauricio Pochettino seems to want to keep him around as well.

That said, Lamela is going to have to start playing like gangbusters if Tottenham are ever going to get close to £25 million in transfer fees for him after this year. While Lamela has look competent and even quite good in stretches, he hasn't looked like someone who might be worth £30 million-plus in the not to distant future. Spurs might be better of taking that supposedly big fee from Juventus and spending considerably less money to bring in a player like Florian ThauvinYevhen Konoplyanka, or even Ezequil Lavezzi.

What do you think? At £25 million would you sell Lamela?
