The FIFA Under-20 World Cup finals will be held this Saturday, and there's a Tottenham Hotspur player in the middle of it. Spurs' young defensive-midfielder-slash-center-back Milos Veljkovic and his Serbia U20 squad is set to take on Brazil in the final match of the competition after dispatching Mali in extra time yesterday in New Zealand.
Veljkovic has had a very nice World Cup, playing every minute of the competition in Serbia's defense and notching an assist as well. Last Sunday, Serbia knocked out fellow Spurs youth team defender Cameron Carter-Vickers and USA in a penalty shootout to reach the semi-finals, and now Milos will have the chance to win a trophy if they can beat Brazil, who destroyed Senegal 5-0 to reach the finals.
This World Cup has been an excellent crucible for Veljkovic who is hoping to use the competition to impress Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and hopefully stake his claim for a place on Spurs' first team.
The U20 World Cup finals will be held this Saturday, June 20 at 5:00 p.m. local time (5:00 a.m. UK, 12:00 a.m. USA) in Auckland, New Zealand. The match is set to be televised live on Fox Sports 1 and online at Fox Soccer 2Go in the USA. There is as of yet no television information for the UK.
