Solid rumors are linking Tottenham Hotspur's young American right back DeAndre Yedlin with a year away from Spurs on loan for the 2014-15 season. The question is now where might he land? Today, the Derby Telegraph suggests that two Championship clubs, Derby County and Bolton, could be eying Yedlin as a loan destination.

Derby County and Bolton are both linked as loan destinations for Yedlin, who is likely third choice right back at Tottenham behind Kyle Walker and new signing Kieran Trippier. Yedlin has also been linked to recently-promoted EPL club Norwich City.

Derby County was one of the more exciting clubs in the Championship last season under now-Newcastle manager (and former England manager) Steve McClaren, and are likely going to be in the mix next season for promotion back to the EPL. As loans go, a Championship loan isn't terrible, as regular playing time is better than no playing time, and the football at Championship level is probably roughly analogous to what Yedlin saw in MLS. Derby County is one of the better clubs in the Championship right now, and a year with a promotion candidate would be an excellent learning opportunity for Yedlin. Bolton? Well, not so much, but it's likely he'd get plenty of first-team football, so maybe that's not so bad either.

Still, most Spurs fans would prefer a loan to a Premier League club that has right back as a position of need, like Norwich, especially if Yedlin is to develop into what the club hopes is a competent Premier League-level right back (or winger) in the future. Playing time is playing time, but there's no crucible quite like Premier League matches, and it seems like there would be any number of bottom of the table clubs that would take a flyer on a guy with Yedlin's speed and ability.
