Said Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino:

"The Audi Cup will provide us with a great opportunity to take on top-class opposition in a fantastic stadium. It will be a good test for our squad and I am sure our fans will enjoy this experience too. This competition will also form an important part of the final stages of our preparations with the Premier League season beginning just a few days later."

This tournament will take place just ahead of the  English Premier League season, giving Spurs a good opportunity to see how they fare against one of the top clubs in the world very early on. Spurs could also be squaring off against former players Gareth Bale, whom Spurs sold to Madrid for a world-record fee in 2013, and Luka Modric, whom Spurs sold to Madrid in 2012.
