In what may be the least surprising bit of Tottenham Hotspur transfer news you'll hear this summer, Tottenham's South African central defender Bongani Khumalo is set to depart the club after his contract expires at the end of June.
In quotes given to News24, a South African online newspaper and media outlet, Khumalo's agent Glyn Binkin confirmed that the central defender would depart Tottenham, but claimed that his client would not be returning to South Africa to continue his career.
He's still on contract at Spurs until the 30th of June, and then he becomes a free agent. We looking at a number of options at the moment. He won't be back in the PSL."
Tottenham signed Khumalo in 2011 as part of a relationship with his then-club Supersport United. Khumalo was a mainstay on the South Africa team that turned some heads in the 2010 World Cup, and he is still South Africa's captain. However, he never played a minute of senior-level football at Tottenham and was most recently on loan at League 1 Colchester United.
