As the summer transfer window officially opens today, Tottenham Hotspur announced that they have finalized the transfer of midfielder Lewis Holtby to Bundesliga side Hamburger SV. The announcement came via Twitter and the club's official website. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This deal is not unexpected. After beginning the year with Tottenham, Holtby was quickly deemed surplus to requirements by Mauricio Pochettino and was sent to Hamburg on loan for the remainder of the season, where he helped the club narrowly (again) escape relegation to the second tier of German football. It was rumored that Holtby's loan deal had a purchase obligation, but nothing was formally reported by either club until now.
Holtby is the second Spurs player to leave the club in the window following Paulinho's departure to Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande earlier this week.
Fare you well, you gorgeous pint-sized German starlet. Our midfield may not miss you, but our social media feeds most assuredly will.
