Spurs could replace Townsend with this Africa Cup of Nations star

Duncan Castles says Crystal Palace has set a £20m asking price for Yannick Bolasie.

Yannick Bolasie has been linked to Tottenham Hotspur for about a month now, but only in a pretty #batcountry capacity. Enter Duncan Castles, a proper journalist with proper sources, who says that the Congolese left winger is rated at £20m and that Spurs are interested.

Bolasie is a super fast creative winger with some really sick moves, one of which made the FIFA 16 trailer (that amazing flick that got past Christian Ericksen *sob*). He scored four goals and had 11 (!!) assists for Crystal Palace last season, and also that took his Democratic Republic of the Congo team to a third place finish at the African Cup of Nations, where he also made the All-Tournament Team. Alan Pardew would like to keep him around, but with Spurs possibly willing to cut bait on Andros Townsend, he's a legitimate target linked with Spurs, Aston Villa, and West Ham.

Interestingly enough, what Castles is saying here is pretty close to what we reported on back in June. Back then, it was the Metro passing on a rumor in the Sun, so we promptly dismissed it until a better source came along. This is that better source. Loathe as I am to admit the Sun might be right, I do trust Castles, as when it comes to Spurs he's usually right more often than he's wrong.

£20m is a lot for a winger though, especially when there are a couple of way more obvious needs on this Tottenham side (*cough* defensive midfielder *cough*). If landing Bolasie means that we pass on upgrading the center of midfield, I'll be pretty ticked off, but in a vacuum, Bolasie is a pretty exciting potential signing.

If Spurs feel like they can afford him and are willing to pony up the dough, I certainly won't turn my nose up on him. He gives a much different look to the left side of midfield than Nacer Chadli, and that pace... whoof.
