Tottenham ready to bid on 19-year old Bundesliga striker

Is it just about TIMO TIME?

Transfer rumors stop for no one, not even when you're in the USA playing a friendly! Today, ESPN is once again linking Tottenham Hotspur to Stuttgart striker Timo Werner, suggesting that Spurs are ready to make a bid for him to come to White Hart Lane.

Interestingly, the journalist for this article is Peter O'Rourke, the same ESPN writer that has been on top of Spurs' interest in Saido Berahino. We already know that Spurs have a delegation in Germany to look at possible targets, and Werner's name has been in that conversation from day one. There's nothing particularly new here, but it does fan the flames a bit more and create some more smoke.

If there's one thing that the MLS All-Star Game showed us last night, besides that Harry Kane is a buzzing, mouth-agape English god, it's that Spurs really do need help at the striker position. With Emmanuel Adebayor set to join Aston Villa literally any minute now and Roberto Soldado also likely to depart, that leaves Kane and Shaquile Coulthirst as the club's only pure strikers. Coulthirst looked decent in his short stint in Denver, but is probably not quite EPL ready. Spurs definitely need at least one additional player who can spell Kane, and probably two.

Timo Werner isn't a pure striker, as he's comfortable coming in from the inside forward position, but he does possess a pretty good blend of raw talent and patience. If the German Delegation™ comes home with Werner in their luggage, or at minimum with enough information to make them confident about a bid, then that's fine by me.
