Two separate sources are claiming that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed on a fee with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Toby Alderweireld. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting a transfer fee of €16m Euros, a figure corroborated by the Mirror, which lists a price of "around £11m."

Daniel Levy had flown to the Spanish capital this weekend to personally negotiate with Atletico president Enrique Cerezo. Atletico earlier had terminated an agreement to loan the defender back to Southampton for a second year, which meant that Alderweireld was available to be purchased by the highest bidder. That Spurs apparently bid £1m over Atletico's supposed valuation of £10m could indicate that Southampton had put a bid in for Alderweireld as well.
I think we can probably say that, barring and catastrophic paperwork failures, Toby Alderweireld will be wearing lilywhite next season. Wait for the official confirmation from one of the clubs before firing up the celebratory .gifs, though.
With Alderweireld, Spurs now have seven central defenders on its books: Jan Vertonghen, Federico Fazio, Eric Dier, Kevin Wimmer, Younes Kaboul, and Vlad Chiriches. Expect at least two CBs to be sold or loaned before the close of this transfer window.
