Did you think that the Saido Berahino transfer saga was over? NOT SO FAST. The Mirror is reporting that the Midlands club is bracing itself for a third bid from Tottenham for the English forward, and it could be a big one.
The Mirror is suggesting that the Baggies are holding out for a £25m bid... which is the number that they've valued Berahino at all along, and that Spurs are considering making one last attempt to nab him.
There's a lot of really interesting backstory to all this transfer finagling, not least of which comes in the wake of West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace's baffling and public rejection of Spurs' last bid, which carried with it a public admonition of Tottenham's negotiation tactics and bidding process.
Spurs, in the meantime, went out and signed Leverkusen winger Son Heung-Min, which could be construed as the club flipping the bird to West Brom, but are still reportedly interested in signing Berahino. Note that this is a "West Brom will accept £25m for Berahino" story and not a "Spurs have made an offer on Berahino" story. This ain't over yet.
Picking up Little Bear on transfer deadline day might effectively rule out an additional backup striker signing... but it might not! We don't know! Isn't transfer deadline day fun?
