Transfer rumors relating to Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon have been few and far between this summer. The main link has been with Everton, but the Toffees have spent much of the summer focusing on other additions, likely in the belief that a deal for Lennon could be concluded on deadline day. It appears that deal is now coming to fruition for a somewhere in the neighborhood of £5 million,
Numerous sources have Lennon returning to Merseyside where he spent a fairly successful half season on loan last year. Everton could certainly use the pacy winger, particularly after Tom Cleverly, who had been playing right midfield, went down with a pretty severe looking ankle injury at the weekend. Daniel Levy's asking price may have been holding things up. Spurs chairman reportedly slapped a £9 million price tag on Lennon. The £5 million rumored deal is obviously a significant discount on that price, but considering that Lennon has only a year remaining on his deal, getting anything out of him at this stage would good.
I will personally be sad to see Lennon go, as he's been a big part of my time spent as a Tottenham fan, but he doesn't seem to have the confidence of management at Spurs. I wish him good luck.
