A day of remembrance.

Happy Friday, Spurs fans. Today is the 14th anniversary of one of the darkest days in America's history. I dare say that most of you are old enough to remember where you were and what you were doing when the towers fell.

I was ten days into my marriage and had just started a new job when it all happened. I was on my way into work when I heard Karl Cassel report the news on NPR, which was at the time innocuous. Four hours later I was sent home. You may also have similar stories, which you are free to share in the comments.

We don't talk about politics on this site and for good reason, and I would prefer that we respect the integrity of what Cartilage Free Captain stands for in the comments of today. And regardless of how you feel about what happened in this country after 9/11, it's indisputable that we came together as a country in the wake of this tragedy unlike no other event in my lifetime, and perhaps not since Pearl Harbor.

There were a lot of speeches made in the wake of the attacks, but none better than that of Comedy Central's Jon Stewart, who cut right through the propaganda and the pain to get at the meat of what this day means to Americans. If you'll indulge me here, I'm going to embed his speech, for his words deserve to be heard again.

Feel free to use this space to share your stories and your recollections. But let's remember to be good to each other, and to not bring politics in here to divide.

And now the "news".

Tottenham Officials sure new stadium will be a hit with sponsors | Sports Business Daily

Of course it will. According to my FM save, something called the "Perryman" something or other company pays a lot of money to name it.

Exclusive interview with Cameron Carter-Vickers | ProSoccerTalk

Great interview. Cameron Carter-Vickers will be a lock-down starter for the US Men's National Team by the 2018 World Cup and will be getting regular minutes for Spurs before that. You heard it here first.

Arsenal and Spurs battle it out for teenage wonder kid | Sabotage Times

Oh hey look, it's our first January transfer window rumor! And it's about Breel Embolo, the new THE to the commentariat that we were never really linked with ever this past window. 12 days... that took longer than I thought it would.

That time when Brazilian Ronaldo went to Burning Man | SB Nation

Yes, that's Fat Ronaldo. In the desert at Burning Man. Riding a Segway. I forgive you everything, Fat Ronaldo. Even the World Cup final haircut.  Legend.
