Ryan Mason had a fantastic run into space and Erik Lamela put in an even better through ball to him as Spurs finally broke through Sunderland's bunkered defense and scored at the Stadium of Light.
As impressive as Mason's goal was, it was an even better pass from Erik Lamela, who threaded that ball in to Ryan perfectly. In fact, it was excellent teamwork from Spurs all around. The finish might not have been the best, but a goal is a goal, and it gave Spurs the lead.
Unfortunately, Mason was also injured on the play, and spent a couple of minutes getting treatment on the sidelines before eventually being subbed off for Tom "English Xavi" Carroll. Sideline reports indicated that Mason was subbed off with a knee injury. We haven't yet heard how badly he's injured or his current status. With Spurs thin at central midfield, hopefully he won't be out for long.
