Tottenham Hotspur loanee DeAndre Yedlin started for Sunderland today against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup third round. This was the American fullback's Wearside debut after securing a loan to the Black Cats on transfer deadline day earlier this month, and both Tottenham fans as well as American soccer fans have been eager to see what he can do in the Premier League.
So how did he do? Not too shabby.

That's a great looking first touch, some impressive strength to hold off the Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov, and what a cross! He was unlucky not to get the assist. Yedlin has reportedly comported himself well as a right back in Dick Advocaat's 4-3-3 formation. Unfortunately Sunderland are on the tail end of a beating in this matchup between the top of the table and the bottom, and at the time of this posting are currently losing 4-0.
UPDATE: Yedlin just notched an assist for Sunderland as Ola Toivonen scores a consolation goal. Check it out!
